I live outside of the greater Phoenix area and noticed there was not a chapter nearby my hometown, would this hinder my membership?
Chapter 9, AzNP Council is a state wide chapter. Our chapter holds quarterly meetings for members via an internet based conferencing service three times a year so members from all over the state can participate from their homes. The fourth quarterly meeting is held during our annual July conference, which is in Flagstaff this year. Committees also conduct their business via conference call. Our executive team meets via conference call monthly. So members that wish to be active in the organization do not need to travel to meetings, except for the annual conference. Throughout the year, particularly during the legislative session, there are many opportunities to receive alerts about proposed bills and communicate with legislators on those bills and other issues of concern to NPs. This is also done via the internet, email and telephone calls. AzNA sponsors a Lobby Day in Phoenix each year in the early spring that is an opportunity to meet face to face with your state representatives with support from other members that are experienced in advocacy.
